NP ChaChaCha~ 2008

Oh no! My blog has been 'dead' for a long while. hahaha. Okay some of the highlights during the Oct..



On the 31 October, it marks the grand celebration of NP turining 45 years old! (NP45 Tree Planting Day) And im the "Tree Leader". My role is to ensure that the vip guest will be able to
plant the tree smoothly.

Hmm its rather queer that i actually attended NP's bdae celebration but i've never been to SP's( where i 've spent my three yrs mugging there)? .. I guess NP is rather generous and spontaneous where it comes to celebrations and events uh..



Okay anyway, each department and school will have to send some representatives to form a few committees( four in total). And i think that im lucky cos im in the same committee as my lunchmates ( xiaoyan and jaslyn). whee =)



Our task assigned is to build an iconic structure( we call it as buggy or moving float) to represent NP during the 1970s. Woah. It sounds rather "chim" uh.. haha the first thing pop out in my mind is " oh it sounds like chingay!".. However, its simply more than building a structure for display purpose. We have to compete with the other three committees for the awards & prizes. There were a total of four awards: The Overall Winner, The Most Innovative/Unique Float Design, The Most Fashionable, The Loudest awards etc. Prizes: unknown.


A few committee meetings were held, and we brainstormed some ideas for the designs of our float. . And the IMC dept ( Imedia Centre) put our ideas into action by coming out with various design template ( salute to the graphic designers). In additional, we've decided to dress ourselves according to the 1970's fashion trends. . FYI its the disco era..!

We completed our painting in a few hour's time. And we proceeded to paste the designs on to the buggy. This is our final buggy ! Pls refer to below.

We engaged a group of students from the BA ( business faculty) and some dancers for our presentation of our icon. Theme music selected: Beauty World ChaChaCha~. And based on that, we named our group as NP ChaChaCha ( as we incoporated the Chachacha element inside our cheers). Hmm it sounds rather cheesy.. but i liked it~

1980s ( ECE dept etc.)

1960s

Personally, i find the icon structure done by the ECE school is rather innovative. Rather amazed by the moving robots and blinking lights.. ( I can practically hear my emo kid singing praises about his school already. =x ). I love the performance by the team for 1960s. Its amusing to see the staff and lecturers dress up themselves. Oops i missed out taking the picture of the team for 2000 . Anyway, they won the most Fashionable award. I guess its because the icon is filled up with hi-tech "gadget" display and one of the staff dressed up as F1 show girl.

And soon the night falls, its dinner reception time over at green mall. Some random pictures snapped.

Our team won the " The Most Innovative/ Unique Float Design" award. I bet our director was disappointed as he carried high hopes that our team will claim several awards.
Well, there is this chinese saying, " A mountain is higher than the other mountain"

Actually, the awards and prizes doesnt matters to me. Its the enjoyable time i had with my respective colleagues while making the buggy. And it provides me with the experience of working with staff from different level and age group. Somehow it spices up the time i spent working here as compared to the normal office hours. =)
